The purpose of the methodology is to describe, in the simplest and clearest possible way, how tree belts affect noise from road and rail traffic, both from the perspective of direct acoustic attenuation and from the perspective of an indirect psychological effect. Attention is paid to the method of establishing the belt and its subsequent maintenance, with a focus on native tree species in the territory of the Czech Republic, arranged into structures resistant to climate change.

The submitted methodology was developed within the framework of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic project no. CL01000058 "Determination and optimization of vegetation belts of natural tree composition serving to attenuate noise from traffic". This methodology is intended for administrators, owners and designers of ground communications and railway lines, representatives of municipalities, state administration and self-government, and also for the professional and lay public, especially when considering the establishment of tree belts for noise attenuation from road or rail traffic.
