The methodology describes systems that use sensors built into the construction of the road or other objects of the transport infrastructure and equipment installed near them, intended for continuous monitoring of their condition and the influences that act on them.

The methodology solves the continuous collection of data on the behavior of the transport infrastructure, especially in relation to the traffic load and acting climatic influences. It focuses mainly on new systems/devices and ways of implementing them into practice. They are not traffic information systems/devices providing traffic information to drivers while driving.

The aim of the methodology is:

  • specify the procedure for implementing new continuous monitoring systems into practice,
  • present selected continuous monitoring systems and the possibilities of their application on transport infrastructure objects,
  • introduce exemplary examples of the application of continuous monitoring systems (http://www.cesti.cz/index.php?page=kontinual_monitor).

This methodology was developed with the state support of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic as part of the Center of Competence program, CESTI project (TE01020168: Center for efficient and sustainable transport infrastructure, working group WP6: Safety, reliability and diagnosis of structures).
