Application of new and progressive diagnostic methods on constructions of transport infrastructure - implementation procedure
In order to maintain the proper condition of buildings, bridges, roads and other structures, their regular maintenance is essential. It is often the case that if it is possible to catch a defect at the beginning of its development, the costs of its removal are much lower than after months or years of uncontrolled degradation. Locating a fault in time often means detecting it even before it is visible to the naked eye. Non-destructive diagnostic methods (NDT) are a key means of detecting hidden faults.
The purpose of the presented methodology is to specify the procedure for introducing new non-destructive diagnostic methods into practice, so that their potential can be utilized and the existing methods used can be replaced or supplemented in a suitable way. Selected NDT methods and the possibilities of their application on selected objects of transport infrastructure are presented here, including the benefit of conducting comparative measurements and creating sample examples of the application of new NDT methods.
The presented methodology was developed within the framework of project TE01020168 – Center for efficient and sustainable transport infrastructure (CESTI), with the financial support of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic as part of the Center of Competence program. This methodology is primarily intended for state administration, transport infrastructure managers and developers of diagnostic surveys of buildings.
