The methodology provides a systematic procedure for effective quality control of hydrogen fuel intended for PEM fuel cell vehicles throughout the entire supply chain. It is based on the quality requirements set by the ČSN ISO 14687 standard as the basic normative framework for hydrogen quality and develops it through a process and risk-based approach that considers the fact that individual supply chains differ in the composition of technological nodes and thus in potential sources of contamination. The methodology is based on the creation of contaminant registers assigned to specific technological nodes, their evaluation in terms of criticality for the fuel cell and probability of occurrence, and subsequent evaluation using a decision matrix.

The proposed control procedure is designed with regard to the technological, operational, and institutional conditions of the Czech Republic, is practically applicable, and allows for effective targeting of controls on real contamination risks in specific supply chains.
