The methodology defines instructions on how to install the light barrier and how to solve the interface for a technically and legally safe and verified connection to the crossing security device, details of assembly, commissioning and subsequent maintenance. The definition of the criteria for the use of a light barrier, i.e. the characteristics of crossings for which the device is suitable and the safety risks it can remediate, is contained in the concurrently published "Methodology for the use of light barriers at railway crossings".
